Ngày 05/03 : Tổng Công Nghị Hồng Y Tiếp Tục Họp Kín Chuẩn Bị Mật Nghị Bầu Tân Giáo Hoàng
Tin tổng hợp - Theo nguồn tin thông thạo, ngày mai (06/03), hồng y đoàn sẽ họp phiên khoáng đại để định ngày mở mật nghị hồng y bầu tân giáo hoàng. Các hồng y đã tuyên thệ không tiết lộ bí mật, trong khi có nhiều tin đồn về danh sách các vị hồng y có triển vọng trở thành giáo hoàng (short list des papabili) : ĐHY Christoph Schönborn (TGM Vienna), ĐHY Odilo Scheler (TGM Sao Paulo), ĐHY Luis Antonio Tagle (TGM Manila - Phi Luật Tân), ĐHY Wilfrid (TGM Napier - Nam Phi).
Các vị hồng y có khuynh hướng muốn vị tân giáo hoàng từng là chủ chăn một giáo phận, thay vì từ giáo triều như trường hợp ĐHY Joseph Ratzinger từng là bộ trưởng Thánh bộ Đức tin vào năm 2005 trước khi được tôn cử lên ngôi vị giáo hoàng. Các vị hồng y còn nói đến việc vị tân giáo hoàng cần chú trọng đến việc truyền giáo, thực hiện tân phúc âm hóa, từng được 250 vị giám mục trên khắp thế giới thảo luận trong thượng hội đồng giám mục họp vào tháng 10/2012.
Theo ông Giovanni Maria Vian, giám đốc nhật báo Osservatore Romano của Tòa thánh, ‘‘nguồn gốc địa dư của vị tân giáo hoàng không quan trọng. Có thể tân giáo hoàng đến từ châu Mỹ’’.
Sau đây là danh sách 117 hồng y sẽ tham dự mật nghị bầu giáo hoàng, trong số có 67 vị là do đức Bênêdictô XVI bổ nhiệm. Bảy vị có nhiều triển vọng được bầu làm giáo hoàng được in mầu đỏ :
